Car maintenance tips to take care of your automobile
A couple of easy car maintenance tips to help with your home auto

Most people are constantly hunting for useful car maintenance tips. They do not want to be told “just take it to a garage”. This costs money and it is something we are all short of in this current economic situation. So what’s the solution? Elbow grease! Buy yourself a simple mechanics tool kit and get ready to get them fingers dirty.
Where to first off?
First off I often say regular servicing helps keep your repairs to a minimum. By giving your motor a good bill of health, this will help keep those rattles away. However before we begin, get your automobiles registration plate number, make and model. Now take this info to your local factors shop and ask for |the following items:
Oil, they often use a chart to give you the correct. Ask them to confirm the exact quantity and write it down.
Oil filter
Air filter
They’re the parts that we shall change. This is a easy car service that you may expect to pay a mechanic approx £80, so let’s save some dosh.
Lets get on with it.
Open your bonnet and you will be able to locate a black box with a black pipe leading to the top of the engine, these are made of plastic so this should be easy to identify. The lid on this black box will unscrew or just unclip. You might need to remove the inlet or outlet pipes to do this, but that is simple and self explanatory. Now the cover is off, take out the present filter and swap with the new one. Now wasn’t that easy. For the rest of these car maintenance tips we will do the engines blood.
Doing this, I like to get the oil from the engine first. For this we want the car to be switched on for a little while to warm the oil up (no more than 5 minutes) this will help thin the oil so that it flows out quicker. For goodness sake, don’t allow it to get to hot as this can injure you. To be sure feel the engine sumps. It should still be quite cool.
Get to the bottom of the engine, it is almost shaped like a large meta bowl. It will have a obvious nut or hex nut near the middle. Grab yourself a large pan that sits comfortably under this nut (you will need a bowl that holds approx 5 litres or more). I think you have probably guessed what’s next, we shall remove this nut and that’s where all the oil will flow out. Now I let the nut drop into the pan and fish it out afterwards, because if I try and keep hold of it you just end up covered in oil (one of my handy ittle car maintenance tips). When this has stopped, leave the nut off and container under whilst we do the last part. What you now need to do is locate the oil filter. This will be either a can or a plastic dome, and protrudes from the side of the engine. Look in your manual or go on the net to help find anything you are struggling with. This is also very simple to swap, basically either the can or the plastic cap will unscrew. This can be tight but trust me it unscrews. Once you have removed the filter replace with the newone . In the case of it being the plastic cap type you have removed, more than likely it will have a paper filter to change and then this cap is then put back on.
Let’s top the auto up and get her back to use.
All that's left to do is put the nut back in the engine sump nice and tight of course. At the very top of the engine you will have a oil filler cap, normally yellow or at the very least it will say oil on it. Remove this cap, you can just see inside your car engine. This is where we will pour the oil, now this is why you wanted the automobile store to tell us the quantity, what we now want to do is pour in just under this amount. When that’s complete give it a minute to get to the sump and then check your dipstick for the oil level. You want it just under the max line. Keep filling up until you reach this mark.
That’s it you are all done and your motor has a new bill of health. Simple car maintenance tips like this are all it takes to care for your automobile and use it for many years.
